“Nine” is a nickname from high school; I like to think it reflects my affection for things multiple, or odd, or not-quite-flawless (think: wabi-sabi). Though in mathematical terms 9 is neither perfect nor prime, holistically speaking (on a scale of 1-10, perhaps), it’s still pretty darn good. I admire 9’s balance and flexibility (its solid tripartite base, its elegant divisions and additions, its excellence without excess) and take the nickname and the philosophy as something to work toward.

Or maybe I just like the way 9 looks. One simple stroke, and there she is.

Not surprisingly, “Nine” the website is threefold: it explores the personal, pedagogic, and research interests of Dr. Danille Elise Christensen. Welcome!
